Gardening Break 2010 - £350 per room

Monday 7th & Tuesday 8th June 2010

After many successful lunches with gardening lecturer Peter Foley owner of Holden Clough Nursery and Waddow Lodge Gardens we have decided to get together to arrange a two-night break for the horticulturists amongst you.

Arrive Monday and relax with an afternoon cream tea, served between 3.30 pm & 4.00 pm and settle into your luxurious accommodation before dinner in our award-winning restaurant.

After breakfast on Tuesday convene for a tour of the Gibbon Bridge gardens, hosted by our estate manager, Robert Lowe. Rob will give you a guided tour of the manicured gardens, the extensive vegetable plot and wildlife ponds, including ducks, pigs and perhaps the apiary! He will also include a history of how the gardens have developed, under his supervision, over the last 27 years and will then return hungry guests to the new Orangery for a hot sandwich lunch.

After a short drive to Waddow Lodge Garden, Peter will give an informative educational tour of the fascinating revitalised garden around the Georgian house. Perennials, Shrubs, Alpines, Roses, Heathers, Conifers, Fruit and Vegetables are all on display. Peter and his fiancée Liz Dean manage the whole garden on organic principles with environmentally friendly gardening at the forefront of the growing techniques with all available waste material composted on site. In addition a small selection of interesting plants are being grown on site for sale to visitors or supply by mail order.
After an afternoon tea with cake and scones return to the hotel for a well earned rest before another gourmet dinner with your green-fingered friends and depart after a second night of opulence.

The price of the whole two-night stay including all the above is only £350 per room.
