New Orangery at The Gibbon Bridge Hotel

 
Easter 2010 saw the unveiling of the hotel’s new venture of a Victorian-styled Orangery. Proprietor, Janet Simpson drew inspiration for this development from both home – Kensington Palace and Kew Gardens – and abroad in conceptualizing the latest £250,000 investment to The Gibbon Bridge Hotel. 

Featuring large glass bi-folding doors that open onto a spacious patio and award-winning gardens, the room’s modern design is both opulent and stylish.  A glass roof floods the space with natural daylight and antique rugs, limestone flooring with under floor heating, mood lighting and Vincent Sheppard’s contemporary furniture all complete the aesthetics. Along with a white baby Yamaha grand piano and a 12 piece series of David Reade’s hand blown glass ornaments, vases and plates.  Janet was captivated by David’s art, which depicts the desert and mountain landscapes of South Africa after a recent trip. A major feature of the Orangery is six cast iron Victorian pillars reclaimed from Preston Public Hall.  Janet rescued the pillars from when it was being demolished 1989 and has long since been waiting for the opportunity to use them at the hotel.  Janet has great memories of the Public Hall from remembering her parents having a stall under the veranda; to attending dances and even seeing Vera Lynn perform. 

The Orangery can be used as an indoor venue for civil wedding ceremonies – a complement to the existing outdoor bandstand, as well as afternoon teas and a luxurious private dining setting for special occasions and celebrations.
