First day of spring and the lawn cutting begins!
Come and join us for a guided tour of our grounds
Warm streams of sunshine saw in the official start of the spring equinox on Sunday . . . revealing the Gibbon Bridge Hotel & Restaurant’s award-winning grounds in all its glory.
While estate manager Rob Lowe landscaped and pruned, proprietor Janet Simpson - our hands-on hotelier - jumped on her John Dere lawn mower and whizzed across the luscious lawn.
Gibbon Bridge is a seven year winner of Britain in Bloom – and this year is an extra special one for us – as tourism chiefs are officially marking The Year of the English Garden.
To celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown - arguably England's Greatest Gardener – Gibbon Bridge has organised a GUIDED GARDEN TOUR & LUNCH.
England is home to some of the finest gardens in the world and the Forest of Bowland is no exception.
In June our gardens will have burst fully to life and provide a breath-taking haven of natural beauty taking in truly beautiful views of Longridge Fell.
This lovely day will start with morning coffee and include a guided tour with Rob Lowe and a mystery Lancashire gardening personality, followed by a two-course lunch – all for £25 per person.
Robert was gardening for Janet before Gibbon Bridge was transformed 34 years ago from a working farm to a thriving hotel and restaurant.
Together Rob and Janet have designed, developed and nurtured the hotel and restaurant gardens – quite unlike any other in the county.
Arrive in time for coffee and then take a tour with Robert. He will show you around and let you into some of his secrets for producing the amazing displays that make Gibbon Bridge what it is today. After the tour you will enjoy a delicious two course lunch, perhaps on the terrace if the weather permits, and enjoy the company of other like minded gardeners.
To book please telephone reception on 01995 61456. (£25 per person).
